Fair Use Notice
1. Purpose of this notice
StoryBee provides books and related material for personal, educational, and informational reading. This notice explains our approach to copyright and third-party rights. It does not grant permission to use any material, determine the copyright status of a particular work, or decide whether a legal exception applies.
An educational or informational purpose alone does not make a use lawful or permitted. Copyright ownership, permission, licences, public-domain status, and statutory exceptions depend on the particular material, use, jurisdiction, and circumstances.
2. Publishers and rights
StoryBee Inc., West Solution Consulting Corp., and The National Research Institute for Democratized Learning each publish or provide certain StoryBee books or content. A publication may include original material owned by its publisher or creator, material used with permission or under a licence, and material identified in good faith as being in the public domain.
Public-domain source material is not claimed as exclusively owned merely because it appears in a StoryBee publication. Separate rights may exist in original illustrations, adaptations, translations, annotations, selection, arrangement, design, and other new contributions. Book-specific credits and copyright inserts identify relevant publishers and rights holders.
We aim to respect copyright, moral rights, trademark, privacy, publicity, and other third-party rights. Nothing in this notice is an admission of infringement or a concession that another person owns a right in a particular item.
3. Fair dealing, fair use, and other exceptions
Copyright laws may contain limited exceptions. In Canada, the Copyright Act and related law may recognize fair dealing and other exceptions. Other jurisdictions, including the United States, may use the term “fair use.” Whether an exception applies is fact-specific; StoryBee does not state or guarantee that an exception applies to any particular material or use.
4. Your use of StoryBee material
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, the Services are provided for personal, non-commercial reading and viewing under our Terms of Use. If you want to reproduce, adapt, distribute, publish, perform, display, or otherwise use material beyond what applicable law permits, you are responsible for obtaining permission from the applicable rights holder.
StoryBee cannot grant permission for material owned by another rights holder. If you are unsure whether a proposed use is permitted, seek advice from a qualified legal professional.
5. Reporting a rights concern
If you believe that material on the Services infringes your copyright or another intellectual-property right, or improperly uses your name, image, or other protected interest, contact [email protected]. Please include:
- your name, contact details, and the rights holder or organization you represent, if applicable;
- a description of the work or right you believe is affected;
- the specific StoryBee URL, book title, page, image, or other location of the material;
- the basis for your claim and any reasonably available supporting information;
- evidence of your authority if you act for someone else;
- the action you request; and
- a statement that your report is accurate and submitted in good faith.
6. Review
We will review sufficiently detailed reports in good faith and may request additional information. Where appropriate, we may preserve relevant records and restrict, remove, replace, restore, credit, or otherwise address material while assessing the report. We may also seek information from the applicable publisher or contributor.
These steps are not an admission of liability, a determination of ownership, or a promise of a particular outcome. Knowingly submitting a false or misleading report may harm another person and may have legal consequences.
